The Mason Square campus hosts dynamic weekly programming and ongoing special events, open to the Mason and greater Arlington community. All activities are free and open to the public.

Grab your blanket or camp chair and join George Mason University at Mason Square for Music on the Plaza! Get ready to dance and groove at this outdoor concert with Arlington’s own local cover band, COLLECTIVE. All are invited to join in the fun - this event is free and open to the public. All are welcome!


Meet a friend for coffee, take a break between classes, or participate in one of the new weekly programs and events. The Mason Square Plaza has plenty of chairs, tables, and large umbrellas to keep you comfortable in the sun. The Plaza is also equipped with free wifi and outlets are available across the plaza for charging all electronic devices.  


Get inspired by the Mason Square campus and express it with our free drawing and craft supplies provided by our Art Cart! Adults and kids alike are invited to get creative. Materials are always changing, but drawing pencils, brush pens, charcoal, erasers, and sketch boards are always available. The Art Cart also provides craft supplies, including crayons, colored pencils, markers, ribbon, glue, construction paper, stencils, beads, yarn, and coloring sheets. The art cart is available every Monday-Thursday from 10 AM-7 PM. Speak with the Plaza Programming Assistant to receive materials and basic instruction.


Ready to roll the dice, connect four, or say uno? A variety of board games are available daily on the Plaza with our Games Cart! The Games Cart is available every Monday-Thursday from 10 AM-7 PM and is great entertainment for you, your friends, and family! Not familiar with all the board games? No problem! Our Plaza Programming Assistants are there to help and answer any questions you might have.


Test your skills and find opponents at our two state-of-the-art tables. Our ping pong tables are located under the overhang on the Plaza and are equipped with paddles and ping pong balls.


The reading cart provides the use of books, newspapers, and magazines in the park during warm weather months. Borrow a great read and enjoy the sunshine on the Plaza!


Every Monday-Thursday from 10 AM-7 PM join us on the Plaza to test your cornhole skills, play a round of giant connect four, enjoy a game of giant chess, and practice your balance with jenga! There is something for everyone!
