Melissa Thierry
Director, Regional Campuses
Melissa Thierry serves as the Director, Regional Campuses, for University Life. In this role she provides leadership in the coordination and facilitation of University Life Academic Support Services at the Mason Square and Science and Technology Campuses.
Melissa has been with George Mason University since 2013. She holds a bachelor of music from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a master of music education from Southern Methodist University. She lives in Arlington with her husband, Joe, and their two children. She is active in her church choir, local elementary PTA leadership, and is an advocate for Down syndrome awareness and education.
Julie Ta
Associate Director of University Life
Julie Ta serves as the Associate Director for University Life at Mason Square, where she provides leadership for student engagement, equity-driven programming, and leadership development initiatives.
Julie has been in student affairs for over a decade, working across a variety of institutions to advance equity, wellness, and community-building. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from Penn State University and a master’s degree in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs Leadership from Temple University, and is excited to advance University Life’s mission of supporting graduate and professional students at Mason Square.
Mary O'Connor
Programming Coordinator
Mary O’Connor serves as the Programming Coordinator for University Life at Mason Square, where she manages day-to-day programs and events on the Plaza and across the campus.
She oversees the Plaza programming team and supports the events they lead. Mary earned her B.A. in English and M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Marymount University. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and savoring the perfect cozy cup of tea.
Janoah Syers
Administrative Assistant
Janoah Syers serves as the Administrative Assistant for University Life at Mason Square, where she supports office operations, student services, assists with the coordination of programs and services for the campus community.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University and brings a strong foundation in business to her role at Mason. Originally from Fort Washington, MD, Janoah enjoys traveling to warm destinations, re-watching the Shrek sequels, and indulging in good takeout.
Kaylin Yang
Administrative Assistant
Kaylin Yang serves as the Administrative Assistant for University Life at Mason Square, where she supports office operations, student services, assists with the coordination of programs and services for the campus community.
Kaylin earned her bachelor’s degree in Youth and Social Innovation and her master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia. Originally from Northern Virginia and born in Charlottesville, Kaylin is a proud Hoo and enjoys supporting students and the Mason Square community.
Brianna Lutterodt
Graduate Professional Assistant
Brianna Lutterodt serves as the Graduate Professional Assistant for University Life at Mason Square, where she supports marketing and event planning efforts to foster engagement and connection within the campus community.
Brianna earned her bachelor’s degree in Integrative Studies with a concentration in International Studies from George Mason University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Management at Mason’s Costello College of Business.
